General Donation
What is Zakat?

The third pillar of Islam — an obligation, not a choice.

Zakat is the compulsory annual charity that every Muslim who meets the Nisab threshold must give. It is not optional generosity — it is a fundamental act of worship and one of the five pillars of Islam.

The Quran specifies eight categories of people who are entitled to receive Zakat. Afghanistan's population includes millions who fall within these categories: the poor (fuqara), the needy (masakeen), those in debt, and those in hardship.

By giving your Zakat to Noble Connection, you are fulfilling your religious obligation while ensuring your contribution reaches some of the most desperate people on earth.

Religiously Compliant All Noble Connection programmes serve eligible Zakat recipients as defined by Islamic jurisprudence

Zakat Nisab 2026

Zakat is due on wealth that has been held for one lunar year above the Nisab threshold — equivalent to 87.48g of gold or 612.36g of silver.

Gold Nisab (87.48g)
≈ £6,200
Based on approximate 2026 gold price. Verify current rate before calculating.
Silver Nisab (612.36g)
≈ £480
Most scholars recommend using silver Nisab — it is more inclusive and benefits more people in need.

Afghanistan's population is among the most food-insecure and impoverished in the world, making it one of the most appropriate places to direct Zakat.
Yes — absolutely. Noble Connection operates a strict 100% donation policy. Our operational costs are funded from a completely separate source. This means your Zakat is ring-fenced entirely for programme delivery. This is verifiable through our published annual accounts, filed with the Charity Commission.
Yes. You can specify a programme preference in the notes field when completing your PayPal donation. Our most recommended for Zakat are Orphan Sponsorship, Food Aid and Emergency Relief as these most directly serve those in absolute need. If unspecified, your Zakat will be directed to where need is greatest.
Yes. We welcome both Zakat (obligatory) and Sadaqah (voluntary charity). All donations — Zakat, Sadaqah, Sadaqah Jariyah and general giving — are handled with the same commitment: 100% reaches beneficiaries. Our clean water programme is particularly suited to Sadaqah Jariyah, as wells provide ongoing benefit long after installation.
